The bike and I went around Bryant Park in Albany Saturday afternoon. I wasn’t thinking of this being the last day of daylight saving time of 2023. Here’s what came to mind instead:
Just in time to have to be reset again for the time change Sunday, the clocks on the tower at Albany Station have been fixed. Now they all show the same time, and when I checked on Wednesday afternoon, what they showed was exactly correct.

We act like subjects, you and I, and as if to rub it in, on Sunday the system we live in forces us once again to adjust the time we go by. Standard time returns Nov. 1, and we’re expected to hop to it and fall in line. Time for a little rebellion, wouldn’t you think?
Did you hear anybody complain? Sure you did. About the weather. About the the lying campaign ads. About the greedy fools running our country and many corporations. But about the time? No, not about that. Nobody has complained about the time.
So you wanted another argument against changing the clocks back to standard time on Sunday morning? Well, the Oregon Liquor Commission has just provided one, though it probably did not mean to.
Fix time change issue? Oregon blows it
Seeing the clock tower at Albany Station on a bike ride Wednesday reminded me of a time issue that remains unresolved in Oregon because the legislature passed up a chance to fix it.
