According to the Albany Police Department’s speed trailer, North Albany Road near Quarry Road was a sometime speedway during the last week of July 2023.

Recommendation: Scrap Spring Hill oval

The Benton County Public Works staff has reviewed the small oval “roundabout” at Spring Hill Drive and Quarry Road and is now recommending that it be removed and not replaced with a bigger one that is actually round. North Albany resident Chuck Kratch had been asking for just that.

Albany, where roundabouts flourish

Just to set the record straight, Albany has five roundabouts and the one under construction now is number six. I was wrong when I wrote, in a photo caption going with a story about the North Albany Road reconstruction project a few days ago, that it would be the fourth.

N. Albany Road: This is the year

If your daily commute takes you along North Albany Road, enjoy the drive while you can. Starting this spring and continuing through most of the summer, the route will be restricted and eventually blocked entirely so it can be rebuilt and widened.
