If you haven’t seen it, I’d like to call your attention to a YouTube video showing the successful operation last week to save the locomotives of an Albany-bound train that were derailed on a trestle in Toledo.

What would prompt a crew from the Portland & Western Railroad to take up a track and dig a long, deep hole under the Pacific Boulevard viaduct in Albany? On a hot Sunday in July no less?

[youtube video=”BfkXY4TyHYQ”] Lately it seems as though the Portland & Western is doing lots of maintenance on the old Oregon Electric track in and near Albany. Anyway that’s the impression I got on a bike ride in spring-like weather Thursday afternoon.
