Wish I knew who got the shopping carts out of a section of Periwinkle Creek in the last few weeks. I don’t. All I know is that the debris I noticed there a couple of months ago has been removed.
In the interest of reducing plastic pollution on land and sea, the Oregon legislature this year most likely will enact a statewide ban on single-use plastic checkout bags. But just how much pollution this will prevent is unknown.
If nutrias are hard to spot now in Periwinkle Creek, it’s probably because a contractor for the Albany Parks Department got rid of about 40 of the pesky rodents a couple of months ago.
