Prompted by a post on Facebook, my Saturday bike ride took me along the extension of Albany’s Periwinkle Bikepath behind Lowe’s Home Improvement Center. Here’s a video of what there was to see:
A reader’s email sent me on a mission along Albany’s Periwinkle Bikepath on Wednesday. Riding the bike on a paved trail away from traffic in springtime is a tough job, I know, but somebody has to do it.
Several times over the years, I have reported on the super-messy conditions of the Periwinkle Bikepath, especially the north end that is walled off from the Lowe’s home improvement center. So it was a surprise to see how clean it was when the bike took me there on April 26.
Among important Albany transportation issues, how best to cross the intersection of Queen Avenue and Geary Street on the Periwinkle Bikepath surely ranks near the bottom of the list.
Conditions on Albany’s trails range from nice and picked up to messy, as my bike rides along the Dave Clark Path and the Periwinkle Bikepath showed this past week.
One of my bike routes through Albany takes me along the Perwinkle Bikepath, and on it you can see different kind of sights, from wildlife to trash.
Well, that didn’t take very long
As expected, it didn’t take long for vandals to start undoing the volunteer work of Albany’s “graffiti chasers” on the Periwinkle Bikepath behind Lowe’s, near Ninth Avenue.
