The last story here about the replacement of the Cox Creek Bridge on Goldfish Farm Road said the contractor was shooting to reopen the road to traffic by the end of Sunday, Oct. 5.
Somebody emailed a question that sent me on a bike ride out Queen Avenue to Riverside Drive in Albany last week. What I saw was that access to an area off the northwest corner of this junction had been cut off.
On a bike ride Friday, I took another look at Goldfish Farm Road, where a contractor for Linn County this week started replacing the bridge over Cox Creek.
Goldfish Farm Road, between Knox Butte Road and Santiam Highway on the east side of Albany, will be closed to through traffic starting Monday so the bridge across Cox Creek can be replaced.
On a bike ride Wednesday, I stopped at the bridge across Cox Creek on Waverly Drive. Except that the pavement has become more pitted, little has changed there since the bridge was briefly closed and then restricted to one driving lane in 2005.
With plenty of time on your hands, you can scroll through hundreds of pages of government documents such as, for instance, the latest draft of ODOT’s “STIP” for 2024-2027. And if you do, you might find a surprise.
