I-5 update: Barrier’s coming along

Written December 6th, 2014 by Hasso Hering

An update from the freeway beat: The contractor stringing a cable barrier up Interstate 5 appears to be moving faster than expected.

A barrier against freeway deaths

By next spring, Interstate 5 through the mid-Willamette Valley should have a cable barrier down the median to keep cars from crossing into the opposite lanes and killing someone.

On I-5: What’s my lane?

Written August 31st, 2014 by Hasso Hering

There is no shortage of lines marking the lanes in this spot on Interstate 5. The trick is to know which ones count. If it looks a little confusing at first glance, it really isn’t. Written May 5th, 2014 by Hasso Hering

If you’re traveling on Interstate 5 the next two nights, you might see a huge truck carrying equipment south. ODOT announced the oversize trip on Monday. And it’s more interesting — to me anyway — than just a big rig going down I-5. The truck, 137 feet long, two lanes wide and more than 14 feet […]
