Most of Albany’s Waverly Lake looked remarkably clean one evening this week, which was a surprise after several sunny days with high temperatures between 80 and 90 degrees.

Potholes being a constant local concern, in February I wrote about the rocky shape of Sixth Avenue in front of Albany General Hospital. So I was interested to see what the City of Albany has just posted on social media.


A potential danger, big tree at school felled

A towering cottonwood in front of North Albany Elementary School was felled on Monday, raising fears that it was just the first to be cut down. But no, the other stately trees on the school grounds (mostly conifers) are safe.
