The fate of Albany’s historic Central School appears unsettled once again now that the school board has received new estimates of what it would cost to make improvements.
The historic Central School building in Albany will get upgrades in three major areas of concern, the board of directors of Greater Albany Public Schools has decided.
Before they decide what to do about the Central and Takena buildings, Albany school officials need a lot more information, in the opinion of interim Superintendent Rob Saxton.
Whether Albany’s historic Central School remains an elementary school may be decided on Monday. People interested in that issue get a chance to talk about it at a school board “listening session” from 5 to 6:30 that evening at the school.
A surprising development popped up during Monday’s meeting of the Albany School Board: There’s a plan to close Central School as an elementary school and use it for other district programs.
