A cleanup of homeless camps took place today in the jungle that is the Willamette riverfront off Albany’s Simpson Park. And from the looks of it, cleaning up the place is a never-ending task.
There’s something in the works off the Dave Clark Riverfront Path, just west of the railroad trestle, and it may have something to do with Albany’s waterfront redevelopment project. Or it may not.
What did this afternoon’s bike ride in the rain along Albany’s riverfront yield? No sensations, obviously. Just images. Like this one, showing that high water has returned to the low spots in Bryant Park.
As Albany embarks on redesigning its Willamette riverfront, an evening bike ride along Water Avenue last week reminded me that a significant element of redevelopment had taken place nearly 10 years ago.

Since it’s raining, this may be a good time to check out the various concepts Albany’s consultants have worked up for redoing the Willamette riverfront. And then to let them know what you think.
