I’m not sure how much traffic there is on Albany’s Dave Clark Path along the Willamette River after dark, but whatever there is it might soon benefit from a little more light. Not necessarily from this thing, though.

In Albany, now would be as good a time as any to wipe off or paint over the graffiti that have started to show up here and there along one of my bike routes and possibly elsewhere. Tagging is likely to get out of hand if we don’t.

A man talked of suicide and set himself on fire near the roundabout on Albany’s Knox Butte Road last Aug. 20. Police Officer Sam Posthuma kept him from completing that plan, and for that the officer has now been honored for saving the man’s life.

Is the Albany Police Department reviving its motorcycle patrols? That’s what I wondered on Friday when I was driving into town and followed a cop on a motorbike on North Albany Road. But, alas, it isn’t so.
