As you know, recreational marijuana sales will be on the ballots of several jurisdictions in Linn County in the general election. Here’s a cautionary note: If you want recreational cannabis sales to be allowed, which they’re not now, you’re going to have to vote “no.”
Whether Albany should ask voters to enact a local gas tax to pay for street repairs is a question that has been hanging around for a while. And now, for the first time in years, the city council will take it up next month.
Albany’s new law setting up a storm water or rain tax utility is on the city council’s Monday work session agenda to be repealed. But even if it is repealed, it likely won’t be gone forever or for long.

Still no word on what Albany’s proposed rain tax will cost you when – not if – it starts being collected, probably starting next spring. No definite word, at least, but an unauthorized hint based on arithmetic alone.

Wetlands again? Yes, once again the designation of normally dry ground as wetlands is likely to cost the city of Albany some money.
