Written July 25th, 2014 by Hasso Hering

There’s been some question about access to and from the planned site of a new Albany police station on Pacific Boulevard S.W. (Highway 99E).  Today there’s new information on that point from Ron Irish, the city’s transportation systems analyst.

Empty roads, great for cycling

Written July 25th, 2014 by Hasso Hering

On a sunny summer’s day, there’s nothing like the wide open secondary roads of the mid-Willamette Valley for a leisurely cruise on a bike. Normally you don’t meet anybody out there. But sometimes you do, as the video demonstrates. And it’s a rare occasion when somebody stops for a chat. (hh)

Instead, the council decided Wednesday to revert to Plan A, which is to build a new police station on nearly 4 acres of city-owned vacant land on […]

On pot, act means state control

Written July 23rd, 2014 by Hasso Hering

So we’re going to vote on a marijuana initiative on Nov. 4. That’s certain. What is not at all certain is that most of us will vote for this measure.
