Soon it won’t be an overstatement to refer to the Hickory Street Health Care Complex in North Albany. Already the address of a branch of the Corvallis Clinic, a Samaritan medical building, and a Fresenius dialysis center under construction, the street will soon have two more Samaritan Health Services buildings.


Albany’s marijuana marathon goes on

Like it or not, marijuana regulation will remain on Albany’s agenda for public discussion for another year thanks to a 4-3 vote the city council took Monday night. Mayor Sharon Konopa broke a 3-3 council tie and voted in favor of banning recreational marijuana facilities including retail shops in the city.


Film nudity at City Hall? Sorry, no!

The adjectives that come to my mind for parking structures all start with d: Dark, dirty, drafty and dank. And possibly dangerous as well, especially late at night. That’s why I hope all this talk about a parking structure in downtown Albany is just that and nothing more.


Wetlands: Another needless cost
