If you park your car on downtown Albany streets on weekdays, it goes without saying that it’s best to park inside the pavement markings and not risk a ticket by straying outside. But what about being just a little outside? And how little is too much?


Gun bill would force difficult choice

This weekend’s gun show in Albany was held while a dozen bills pending in the legislature would add to Oregon’s restrictions on the ownership and legal use of firearms. Outside the show, OregonPushBack called attention to the bills. On its website, the group vows that “We Will Not Comply.” That would be easier said than done.

Park closed on a sunny, dry day

The weather turned fine on Saturday, but automobile access to Albany’s Bryant Park remained closed. That didn’t keep people from using the park for disc golf, time on the playground, or just walking around. They just left their cars outside the entrance, and outside the exit too.

Fuss over veto prolongs spat on ADUs

The Albany City Council Monday went through the ritual of hearing the mayor’s veto message in regard to accessory dwelling units. Her opponents may try on Wednesday to override her veto, but at last report they lack the fifth vote to get that done.
