The bridge deck was gone Monday evening on one lane of the Waverly Drive bridge over Cox Creek.
If you’re keeping track of the bridge replacement on Cox Creek, and even if you’re not, here’s an update.
I went by the construction site on a bike ride Monday evening. The concrete deck was gone on much of the bridge’s eastern driving lane, as you can see in the photo above.
The western lane had been widened a little and remained open, providing continued access to Simpson Park, the dormant Talking Water Gardens (they’re not talking), and the Portland & Western’s Millersburg rail yard.
Once the eastern lane is rebuilt, the other one will be demolished and replaced.
Legacy Contracting, of Stayton, has the $2.4 million Linn County contract to the replace the bridge, which had been load-limited and restricted to one lane for about 20 years.
The project is scheduled to be completed by November.
The site is on one of my bike routes. So now and then, expect to see progress reports here. (hh)

The dead looking trees at TWG are real inviting for a walk around there… or was it all the homeless? I think it was the day there was a fire call when we drove around the parking lot. Didn’t see anything burned in the area.
