I took this photo a month ago on Oak Grove Drive in North Albany. No particular reason except I liked the light trying to get through the darkness on this soggy winter afternoon.
Oregon is a pretty nice place to live, except in February. And this month has seemed worse than usual.
First there was the anxiety about Covid after almost a year of isolation and lack of normal business going on. And now we’re fretting about about the vaccine, the lack of enough doses and the way they are being doled out.
Then came the ice storm last weekend. The power is back on for most people around here, maybe all of us. But now comes the task of rebuilding our internet connections and services, not easily done in the age where you can’t just call and talk to an expert but have to deal with automated systems instead.
Then you look out the window and wonder how long, once you start, it is going to take to cut and organize all the broken wood angled this way and that in the yard.
Maybe there’s comfort in realizing that this won’t last. The tasks will get done, or not. Either way, daylight time starts in four weeks, and spring the week after that.
In the meantime, there’s the sun trying to break through every once in a while, as it did over the Coast Range that evening a month ago. (hh)
Yes this too shall pass :)
Lovely – the photo and the article. It does seem a bit overwhelming right now – great article to read this AM – Thanks!
We shall rise!
Thanks Hasso.
Thanks for your uplifting post Hasso…. I think we all needed to hear it!
Family advice
When you feel darkness closing in, look for a shiny spot on the horizon. Steer for it.
