I stopped the bike to check this obstruction on Friday afternoon, Dec. 12, 2025.
Friday’s bike ride along the Albany riverfront was totally routine except for one brief interruption.
On the Dave Clark Path, someone had left what you see in the photo above. This made me stop and dig out my phone for this:
The “guys” I mentioned in the video turned out to be three ladies out for a walk. They were quick to lend a hand to get that plywood and woody debris out of the way.

These ladies stopped to help clear the path. If I had had my wits about me, I would have asked their names.

A more substantial obstruction has closed the Periwinkle Bikepath behind Lowe’s. The tree, on Lowe’s side of the wall, toppled two or three days ago.
All of which shows only that on Albany’s otherwise tranquil bike and walking paths, it’s not true that all the days are exactly the same. (hh)

Thanks Hasso for helping to clean up the path. Hard to believe Dave has been gone for 23 years.
At least one dead cottonwood has fallen across the path from Waverly Lake to TWG every year for the last 7 years that I have ridden this daily. There are 5 or 6 left and they will fall soon….
