HASSO HERING

A perspective from Oregon’s mid-Willamette Valley

Message on an autumn day: Thank you!

Written November 8th, 2025 by Hasso Hering

Nov. 8, 2025: Looking out from the desk where I write most of the stories you see on this site.

Every once in a while I realize how lucky I am, reporting on what I see and interests me, and having you folks reading my stuff and sending in comments from time to time.

That’s what I was thinking when I sat here on Saturday, looking out the window at the colorful display that Oregon puts on in the fall.

This is not a story by itself, obviously. I’m working on one of those. In the meantime, I just want to acknowledge that I couldn’t do this website without you readers.

So thank you for hanging in there with this site. And for your occasional questions, which on otherwise slow days keep me going and give me something to do. (hh)

Isn’t Fall beautiful in Oregon? I am so glad to see the beautiful display by Mother Nature. My comment for your website: the clock at our train station seems to be correct on all sides! WONDERFUL.

I think I speak for many when I say … we should be the ones saying “thank you”. I believe we can agree that the stories, the photographs and the inquisitive articles you create for us help to enlighten us, educate us and of course, get us talking about things happening around us every day that otherwise would likely go unsaid or unnoticed. And true, the colors of autumn are without a doubt a benefit of being in a place where we are granted actual seasons of the year and in doing so, the opportunity to experience the kaleidoscope of a multitude of colors with each passing day.

We appreciate how hard you work to get us answers to those questions we can’t find. Your stories are interesting and fun and informational. So glad you still have your investigative instincts and find out what we want to know. One thought, please be more careful on your bike rides. It sounds like several people felt like they were close to hitting you, including me, and NONE of us want that. :)

  10. Doreen Akers says:

I do thank you for all the time you spend keeping all of us up to date on what is happening around town. I look forward to your email’s that I get and always read those first before I look at anything else. On that note, I do have something I would like you to check on and that is, when JoAnn Fabric was going out it was mentioned that Michael’s would be going in to where Big Lots had been. Have you heard anything on that. We could sure use another fabric and craft place like JoAnn’s. Thanks

Thank you for the colorful shot out your window. Autumn is beautiful even with the rain. I happen to be in Yuma right now and am loving the blue skies and sunshine. Have to admit I’m not looking forward to returning to the rain and grey skies.

Thank you Hasso for keeping us informed honestly with what’s going on in our community!

The ADH is pretty much non existent, and too expensive for local news, so your commentary is much needed, and appreciated!
