With a new season starting Sunday, I could not resist the temptation of calling attention to the fact, even though the weather didn’t exactly shout “Springtime!”
To mark the occasion without going far afield, I took a ride along the familiar Albany riverfront trail. As you can see if you click the video below, I encountered a squad of skateboarders but hardly anyone else, on foot or otherwise.
Fittingly, this few minutes on the Dave Clark Path ended before the bike and I were blessed by a springtime shower, which in the face of a cold headwind felt more like a late winter storm. (hh)
Stepped on the bathroom scale this morning, decided past time to air tires and lubricate chain on “Steed”, my yearlong dormant mountain bike. Loaded two of us into truck with helmet, water, band-aids and headed straightaway for downtown Albany only to discover Steed’s quick-shift mechanism had sadly become no-shift mechanism. Feeling shame on two fronts I returned home, performed temporary solvent fix to shift mechanism, returned to the scene of second chances and happily celebrated change of season with a great Sunday ride to Simpson, Bowman and Waverly Parks. Thank you Hasso for posting your rides!
Nice! We took this walk last week, all the way from the riverfront park to the ravine just before Bowman, and we were smart to stop at Calapooia Brewing on our walk back (outdoor seating that felt very safe). We saw two eagles and an osprey, among other things on our walk.
Spring may be here and we are happy to see the change in the weather. Now, when will that darn clock at the train station be fixed! Today (Tuesday) we came by and it was 3:22 PM, but the clock on ALL sides said i was 3;02 PM! Rotary and who ever else paid for this clock was duped into thinking it would work!!!
