A perspective from Oregon’s mid-Willamette Valley

Group exercise in the Age of Corona

Written May 12th, 2020 by Hasso Hering

The view from afar: Exercise with plenty of space between exercisers.

On a ride past Bryant Park, this view caught my eye: A whole bunch of people on the ground, doing leg lifts or something like that.

Social distancing is the mandate of this corona crisis, one of them anyway. And this exercise group or class certainly practiced it on the grass at this century-old city park.

This was on Monday afternoon, when the weather was fine. Chances are these people would have found the ground too wet if they had assembled for their routine on the following day.

The Albany parks are pretty good places for spreading out for exercise, or anything else, if we want to avoid spreading the virus. Whether any of these people were wearing masks, I was too far away to tell. (hh)

The digital zoom on a phone camera doesn’t do much for crisp definition.
