Gov’t shutdown? No, water emergency

Written October 10th, 2013 by

100_1318The federal budget impasse was not enough to shut down the Social Security office in Albany. But on Thursday (Oct. 10) a utility problem did. Signs on the door said the office was able to handle only some transactions owing to the lapse in federal funding caused by the political impasse in Washington. On Thursday, though, another sign said a water leak was responsible for a temporary but complete closure. Also affected was a dermatology office in the same building, which housed the Albany Public Library until a few years ago. If you have business there, better call ahead to learn whether the leak has been fixed. (hh)
