At dusk on Monday, Goldfish Farm Road was reopened to through traffic across the new bridge.
The last story here about the replacement of the Cox Creek Bridge on Goldfish Farm Road said the contractor was shooting to reopen the road to traffic by the end of Sunday, Oct. 5.
A commenter complained that this target date had not been met, that the road was not open on Sunday.
I don’t know what happened Sunday. But when I read the comment on Monday night, I drove out there.
This was about 7:30. As it happened, the detour signs were still up. But a crewman for the contractor had just removed the barricades on the north side of the bridge.
As I drove on to the bridge from the south, past a sign that said “business access,” I asked him if the bridge was now open.
Yes, he said, as soon as he removed the remaining half barricade on the south side, which he was about to do.
Long story short: The road is open now. (hh)
