This walkway leads from a new Water Avenue railroad crossing down to the Dave Clark Riverfront Path just east of the Lyon Street Bridge.
Monday’s glorious October sunshine found me and the bike, as usual, on the Albany riverfront, where something new has just opened up.
Here, take a look at one part of this new railroad crossing:
This crossing from Water Avenue to the riverfront path makes up for the closing of an access point under the Ellsworth Street Bridge that was closed as part of the Albany Waterfront Project.
The short concrete stairway from the new crossing down to the path was not yet open Monday, but the long ramp down a gentle slope off to the side was. And as I say on the video, I expect wheelchair users and others trying to avoid stairs will find the ramp easy to use.
That, after all, was the point of replacing several of the old rail crossings on the riverfront: To make them easier to use for people for whom mobility is a daily challenge.
And the long ramp of this one makes things easier for people on bikes as well. (hh)

Runners on the Dave Clark Path pass the new steps leading down from the rail crossing on Water Avenue east of Lyon Street Monday.

Thanks, for the info. Hasso. I think this new addition to the Dave Clark path is great.
It is the only part of the Waterfront project that makes any sense. Always enjoy your videos and your photography.
