Because the ground is still soggy, mid-March may not be the best time to ride a bike on the dirt track from Simpson to Bowman Park. But I thought I would try it anyway.

In the last story on this subject a couple days ago, we went for a short video ride on Madison Street, where the city of Albany is planning a project to enhance bike safety. Here’s a slightly longer ride along all eight blocks of Madison from Pacific Boulevard to Water Avenue.

The Salem owners of a section of Albany riverfront now have city approval of their plan for 120 apartments on the 6.2-acre site.

The city of Albany has wanted to get rid of an unused reservoir it owns on Burkhart Street, but the astronomical cost of demolishing the heavily reinforced concrete structure scared would-be buyers away.  Now an engineer and a builder have come forward to give it a go.

One of the scattered power outages reported in the Albany area overnight happened here, on Bryant Way, when Tuesday night’s storm blew a tree across the road. I came across the crew working to fix the outage around mid-day.

Albany has won grants totaling about $1.5 million intended to provide safer streets for children to get to and from two elementary schools on the south side of town.
