Albany’s downtown urban renewal advisory board got a preview Wednesday of various ways in which the city’s riverfront could be dressed up. Whether any of it ever gets done is uncertain, but the board members generally liked what they saw.


Landmarks says project is just too big

Two years ago the Albany Landmarks Commission refused to allow the demolition of three dilapidated old houses at Fourth Avenue and Calapooia Street. On the Tuesday night the same commission turned down a plan for two new buildings on the site as too massive and tall.


Food waste: Let the state keep out of it

As part of Governor Brown’s recent executive edict to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has published a plan to reduce food waste. What it boils down to is a plan to require citizens in Albany and around the state to clean their plate or else.

Maple Lawn reopening is up to GAPS
