Albany residents might as well get ready to expect cutbacks in city programs and services over the next few years.
As expected, the Albany Community Development Department has approved an increase in the number of proposed apartments at “The Banks,” a planned housing complex on the Willamette River across Geary Street from Bowman Park.
The brush has been cleared away, and pretty soon the oaks and other mature trees will come down as well on Franklin Avenue just west of Airport Road and Interstate 5.
YMCA demolishes vacant former jerky store
It was 10 years ago, in August 2010, that the Oberto company pulled out of Albany and closed its meat snack factory and store on Pacific Boulevard at 30th Avenue. Now the former store and deli has been demolished.
