Where the good berries are

Written August 3rd, 2014 by Hasso Hering

Blackberries, one of the compensations making up for a long summer heat wave! And nowhere are they more plentiful than along the car-less roads of the E.E. Wilson Wildlife Area in north Benton County.

Blackberry alley at E.E. Wilson: No good place to lean your bike.

Blackberry alley at E.E. Wilson: No good place to lean your bike.

Getting there, though, means a long walk unless you arrive by bike, the preferred method because besides getting you to the berries faster, it means you don’t have to worry about leaving your car and getting a ticket. Parking permits are required at all these wildlife areas, and it’s unlikely that you bought one for an impromptu berry expedition.

If you do ride your bike, though, beware of dead vines with thorns strewn about the pavement the last time a crew came through to cut the roadside vegetation back. (hh)

Thank you for this. I came to your site while looking for information about the new Albany dog park. I bookmarked it and will be back often because of this entry.
