It’s a headwind until you turn around
On Saturday, there was a pretty stiff breeze out of the southwest whipping things up at the central coast. I was headed mostly south, naturally, but only for a while, until I had the good sense to turn around and let the tailwind do all the work.
It pays to take an old mountain bike for a day like that. It may not be fast — especially if the rider is not — but it can handle some pretty rough dirt trails. (hh)
