The news on Albany’s Front Avenue is that the “Old Book House” has new owners and the book itself has gone home to the place where it was lost and hidden in a wall for around 80 years.

It’s taken most of the year, but the transformation of a formerly crumbling old house in Albany’s Willamette Neighborhood is now complete. I’ve followed the story from the start, and if you’re interested in private initiative curing spots of urban blight, you should be more than pleased with the result.


Old book: Back to its house

Since last you read about the “Old-Book House,” there’s been progress on this reconstruction project at 1405 Front Ave. N.E.  Among other things, as you can see, the old side wing has been scrapped and replaced with a new concrete foundation and slab and the beginnings of the framing of the new garage.
