Muddy water? It’s no problem, city says

Albany’s two treatment plants have been dealing with a raw-water supply that is unusually muddy. The question is whether this is causing any problems.

Checking on Albany hydro: Sales slump

Every time the bike and I climb up the steep Third Avenue Bridge from Bryant Way, I look off to my right to see if the Albany hydropower generator is turning. Lately it has been still, not moving at all.

Santiam Canal: Where dollars flow

A boat, they say, is mostly a hole in the water into which to pour money. At times the Santiam Canal must seem like that to the city of Albany.

Canal dispute: Compromise needed

In Texas and maybe elsewhere, they say that whiskey is for drinking and water is for fighting over. Let’s hope a fight can be avoided in the lingering, water-related dispute between the cities of Albany and Lebanon. The impasse is holding up Lebanon’s plans to build a new treatment plant.
