From time to time, the bike takes me past Burkhart Park in Albany, which features a playground, an abandoned tennis court, a couple of hoops and plenty of grass. Soon it will have something else, an outdoor “fitness court.”
Declining fitness? Duh!

There was a story in the papers from Dallas, where a conference of the American Heart Association heard about research on the declining fitness among the world’s children. There’s reason to be skeptical of the findings, even though they sound plausible.

At Burkhart Park, theme will be fitness
There’s a new concrete pad on the northeast corner of Burkhart Park in Albany. It’s where the city parks and recreation department will install a “fitness court” that is set to be ready next month.
