One afternoon this week, I dropped by what Albany now calls its Riverfont Community Center. I hadn’t been inside the place since just before it reopened last winter after being shut down for Covid.

Look at the spruced-up community center

As you know by now, the Albany Senior Center has been transformed into the Riverfront Community Center, and on Thursday (March 24) there’s a “grand celebration” to mark its reopening after the closure and interior remodeling during the Covid pandemic.

Senior center: What to call it when it reopens?

When it reopens after being closed for a year because of Covid, the Albany Senior Center in Monteith Riverpark will try to attract residents of a wider age range and may operate under a new name.
