A proposal brewing in the legislature would try to involve Linn or Benton County in the planning and financing of a third Willamette River bridge in Salem.
The Albany City Council has voted to try to block a land division outside the city limits approved by the Linn County Board of Commissioners. The case is of interest to anyone who owns and might want to develop property within the city’s “urban growth boundary.”
Albany says in court that trying to comply with a new state-issued stormwater discharge regulation would cost the city $5-7 million over five years. The city is asking the court to declare that the DEQ violated the Clean Water Act and Oregon law in issuing the regulation, and to set it aside. (See an update […]
Creating the ‘Opera House Apartments’
When the remodeling of the former Spruce Apartments at 222 First Ave. S.E. is finished, they will be named the Opera House Apartments, and a plaque on the building will tell the story of this site in Albany history.
