A cleanup of homeless camps took place today in the jungle that is the Willamette riverfront off Albany’s Simpson Park. And from the looks of it, cleaning up the place is a never-ending task.
If it accomplishes nothing else, the impasse at the Capitol in Salem is preventing the spending of hundreds of millions of additional dollars, at least for a while.
Judging by Novak’s following on Facebook, lots of people in the mid-valley have been waiting for the Hungarian restaurant in downtown Albany to reopen. For them, the wait is almost over.
Albany has three paved off-street bike paths, and now and then, especially when the weather is fine, it’s fun to make a circuit around town that takes in all three.
Various projections show that Albany’s population will grow from about 55,000 now to 72,000 or even 78,000 in 20 years. One question that might be worth asking: Is that a good thing?
